Privacy Policy.

How information is handled when you browse the Atlas or contact the publication.

Scope and contact

This policy explains the handling of information associated with The Deep Life Atlas at bristora.cc and correspondence sent to [email protected]. In this policy, “we” refers to the publication's operator. Questions and requests about these practices should be sent to that address.

This policy describes the website's present features. It does not describe the separate practices of institutions linked in our articles or of services you choose to use after leaving the site.

Information you choose to provide

Browsing the atlas does not require an account, subscription, payment, or contact-form submission. If you email us, your email address, the name you provide, message content, attachments, and associated email metadata may be received and processed through email services.

We use correspondence to respond to questions, investigate corrections, handle rights or privacy requests, and address reported website problems. Please provide only the information needed for your inquiry. We do not ask readers to send payment details, passwords, identification documents, or sensitive personal information to use the atlas.

Technical requests and hosting records

Like other websites, this site must receive browser requests to deliver pages and files. Hosting and network services may process an IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information, referring information, and diagnostic or security records. The records available and their retention depend on the hosting provider and its configuration.

The site's search filters article information in your browser. Search text may appear in the page URL and browser history; a request for a URL containing that text may also be visible to hosting or network services. Please do not enter private information in search queries.

Cookies, browser storage, and advertising

The current website code does not set cookies, use local storage to build reader profiles, or load third-party advertising or analytics scripts. Navigation and search controls operate in the page. The browser may cache site files and retain ordinary browsing history according to your settings.

Images, fonts, and interface scripts are served with the site rather than embedded from external media platforms. A hosting service may apply its own security or delivery mechanisms; their operation depends on the deployed service. If advertising, analytics, subscriptions, or another data-collecting feature is introduced, this policy and any required choices must be updated to describe that actual implementation.

Google advertising choices

You can use Google My Ad Center to turn off personalized ads. Google may ask you to sign in to manage the settings associated with your account. Turning off ad personalization does not remove all advertising; ads may still be based on contextual information.

For details about information shared with Google when a website or app uses its services, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

These links are provided as reader resources. The current Atlas website does not load Google advertising or analytics services. Opening a Google page takes you to a separate service governed by Google's own policies and settings.

Purposes and legal considerations

Information is handled to deliver the website, respond to reader-initiated correspondence, maintain security, correct content, and meet applicable legal obligations. Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, the relevant basis depends on the activity and jurisdiction, such as legitimate interests in responding to an inquiry or compliance with a legal obligation. A feature that requires consent must provide the appropriate choice before that processing begins.

Simply reading this policy is not a blanket consent to optional tracking. The present site has no personalized advertising system or automated reader-profiling feature.

Service providers and disclosure

Hosting, network, and email providers may process information necessary to deliver their services. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or when necessary to address a security incident or protect legal rights. We do not use correspondence as a mailing list or sell personal information received through reader inquiries.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own, where data-protection rules may differ. The location of processing depends on the hosting and email services involved. You can contact us with questions about a particular communication or request; applicable restrictions on international transfers continue to apply.

Retention and security

Correspondence should be retained only for as long as needed to handle the matter, maintain a relevant correction or rights record, or satisfy applicable legal requirements. Hosting and email providers may retain operational records or backups under their own configurations. We do not promise a fixed deletion period for records controlled by those providers.

Please avoid sending sensitive information by ordinary email. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If an inquiry can be resolved without retaining unnecessary personal details, those details should not form part of a public correction note.

Your choices and requests

Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to access or correct personal information, request deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, or receive information in a portable form. Where consent is the basis for processing, you may be able to withdraw it. Rights can be subject to legal exceptions and verification requirements.

Send requests to [email protected], identifying the correspondence or information concerned. We will respond in accordance with applicable requirements and may request proportionate verification. You may also have the right to complain to the relevant data-protection authority. Browser settings let you manage history, cached files, and cookies set by services you visit.

External websites and younger readers

Following a research, NOAA, or other external link sends you to a separate service with its own terms and privacy practices. Review those policies before providing information there. Citing a source does not make that service part of the atlas.

Educational articles may be read by students, but the site does not offer child accounts or seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information can contact us to request review and appropriate deletion.

Policy changes

Changes to features or data practices will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent, posting a revised policy alone does not replace that requirement. For related information, see our contact page and terms of use.
